Miss B called tonight as she always does. We had a nice chat about food, friends, houses, birthdays, and cookies. Miss B and her hubby had a friend from the unit over for dinner last night. Miss B made ribs, baked potatoes, and I believe she had salad. The guys just luved the dinner. She said everything turned out real good. She also made cookies and they watched movies after the guys messed around in her hubbies music room.
While chatting I glanced at the bowl of apples sitting on my counter. I told her not to forget about my fried apples that she could make. They taste so good in the fall with a pork dinner or as a topping with vanilla ice cream. I made macaroni casserole and told her not to forget that she could make that to. The casserole is my mothers recipe that I remember well when I was growing up in the 70's. I like to give her little ideas on things she can make since she is a new wife.
Then we talked about the holidays and how stuff is being put out so early in the stores. She has her first house now that she can have fun decorating. She told me all her holiday decorating plans. She was telling me how she wants to decorate for Halloween and also have a party. She wants to make all that awesome Halloween food and stuff. I reminded her that when she comes for Thanksgiving I have a box full of her ornaments from her years growing up that I have been saving for her first Christmas tree in her first house. We both also realized that she will be here for her birthday (11/29) and we both thought that is just awesome!
It is so nice to chit chat with her about cooking, decorating , and other stuff. She really enjoys having her own home. Mr. C - her hubby told her the other night during dinner....... that he is so glad he married her because she can cook and her food is so good. She told him she learned from her mother - that made me feel good! :) She does make me proud. I guess I never really realized how much she paid attention. It makes me feel good that she learned from myself and hubJ. She always tells me how she use to watch everything that we did - and she picked up on it. Right down to paying bills, shopping, and making major decisions. She also took a Career Planning class in school and that helped prepare her to. They had to work on a big project which involved finding a mock job, place to live, car, internet, cable, cell phone, grocery shop, furniture shop for the place they found and so on. I don't know about the other students but her eyes where really opened up to what life is going to be like for her. I remember while she was working on the project she was really stressing out because she was running out of money - like it was for real. She watched her pay check just fly away! She has told me many times since getting married that the class really helped prepare her. Everything she did on that project in school she is doing right now in real life. That class was a requirement when she was in school. I think that class is the best subject that educators have come up with. It really wakes some students up!
I really enjoyed my mother/daughter chat this evening!
