a day of rest

i got all my cleaning plus all the laundry done yesterday and today i am not going to do anything. i was so tired last night. it was like after 9pm and i was still folding towels. i think every towel that we own was dirty!! when cleaning the kitchen i took everything off the counter, gave it a really good cleaning, and rearranged stuff to change it up a bit. i like to move things around every now and then to give it a new look. :) my front room (where the computer is) is a disaster. we had to pull the carpet up. it was nasty from the previous people. the sad thing about it is - there is a hard wood floor under the carpet that would have been awesome to refinish, but someone PAINTED it!!!! that requires way to much work to try and get back to looking nice. i think we are going to have linoleum put in and put braided rugs down. it will be easy to keep up. in the meantime though - the floor looks like a mess, everything is all over the place, and it has that just moved in look to it. i am sure it will look nice when we finish in here, if we ever finish in here. i know how i want this room to look. the only progress that we have made is the paint on the walls and ripping the carpet out! i want this room to have that "parlor" "sitting room" look to it. i still want my buffet and two wing back chairs. the salvation army and thrift shops have some nice choices - i just need the extra money to work with. that five letter word always seems to get in the way of things!!

it is a chilly 45 F and time for another cup of hot coffee!

dear blog

once again i have neglected my blog! i am such a bad "blog parent". i haven't given it the attention that i should. i don't know what is going on with me lately, i have been so tired when i come home from work that sitting in front of the computer is the last thing i want to do. i have a doc appointment on monday so i will mention it to him and see what he says. maybe i am lacking something (ya - energy!). i have to force myself to get motivated. i hate feeling like this - it is the most frustrating thing. like today for example - i have a ton of stuff to do around the house and it is going to take everything out of me to get up and get it done. i never use to be that way.

so i hope everyone is doing fine today in the blog world. i need to spend more time plurking as well. i like all the friends that i have on there. it would help if i didn't have this darn "dial-up" then i could just leave everything up and come to it during the day. even if i could afford broadband i would still have a problem because the companies are very limited that can offer that service here because of that zone thing and internet rights. the companies that can offer it are not that good. so i just keep telling myself - this is better than no internet service at all. at least i have something!

time for me to toddle off and get going on my chores for the day! oh - and the one million dollar question has been answered and it is not even noon yet: "what is for dinner?" spaghetti! hubj personally requested it. so spaghetti it shall be.

everything pink!

Yesterday I found out (along with little mama) that I am going to have a grand-daughter! It was a bumpy ride there and back because we had to take the connector bus because hubJ had the car. I thought for sure all those bumps would wake the baby up but she was bound and determined not to wake up for her picture day! She did however (with grandma's help!) wake up, move her hands, and even open her mouth (I assume a YAWN!). It was the most precious thing to see. When we got there we were early so we went to the coffee shop so I can refill on my java intake for the day and Little Mama needed to still drink to fill that bladder up (oh how I remember those days!). After the photo shoot we went back to the coffee shop and had lunch. It is a nice little place inside the hospital. They serve lite lunches such as soup and pita wraps, pizza, and also have a variety of pastry and cookies to go with your coffee, tea, or other beverage. Little Mama had pizza and I had soup and a veggie pita wrap - it was yummy! Then we had another bumpy ride home!!

Little Mama is 20wks now and was happy to find out that she can keep all the "pink" stuff that people have been giving her!! :) So now we wait - for delivery day in Feb for Emily Jade to greet the world!

shop, shop, shop

Saturday was a nice day as "little mama" and I went shopping. We were able to find her a much needed pair of maternity jeans. She is starting to look (and feel) very preggie and the unpreggie cloths are no longer working for her. So we got those jeans, she also got a much needed pair of new shoes (tennis shoes), and we did lunch. Along our travels through the mall I was able to pick myself up a couple pairs of (oh so comfy!) pants for work, and some tops. We also stopped at Border's and I got a White Chocolate Maple Latte (yum!) and little mama got her usual frozen java concoction. THIS is the only way she will touch anything labeled as coffee. I tend to try the new stuff whenever we stop in.

I am glad we spent the day together. Those days are far and few so I try to grab them when I can. She usually just goes on the next day non effected by the time spent together so it seems; but I am always left with a soft reminder that I am still her mother and I can still have fun with my "not so little anymore" little girl.

Our next day together will be on Tuesday. This is ultrasound day. THE DAY! The day we find out if the baby is a girl or a boy. We are both excited! :)

Chit Chat with Miss B

Miss B called tonight as she always does. We had a nice chat about food, friends, houses, birthdays, and cookies. Miss B and her hubby had a friend from the unit over for dinner last night. Miss B made ribs, baked potatoes, and I believe she had salad. The guys just luved the dinner. She said everything turned out real good. She also made cookies and they watched movies after the guys messed around in her hubbies music room.

While chatting I glanced at the bowl of apples sitting on my counter. I told her not to forget about my fried apples that she could make. They taste so good in the fall with a pork dinner or as a topping with vanilla ice cream. I made macaroni casserole and told her not to forget that she could make that to. The casserole is my mothers recipe that I remember well when I was growing up in the 70's. I like to give her little ideas on things she can make since she is a new wife.

Then we talked about the holidays and how stuff is being put out so early in the stores. She has her first house now that she can have fun decorating. She told me all her holiday decorating plans. She was telling me how she wants to decorate for Halloween and also have a party. She wants to make all that awesome Halloween food and stuff. I reminded her that when she comes for Thanksgiving I have a box full of her ornaments from her years growing up that I have been saving for her first Christmas tree in her first house. We both also realized that she will be here for her birthday (11/29) and we both thought that is just awesome!

It is so nice to chit chat with her about cooking, decorating , and other stuff. She really enjoys having her own home. Mr. C - her hubby told her the other night during dinner....... that he is so glad he married her because she can cook and her food is so good. She told him she learned from her mother - that made me feel good! :) She does make me proud. I guess I never really realized how much she paid attention. It makes me feel good that she learned from myself and hubJ. She always tells me how she use to watch everything that we did - and she picked up on it. Right down to paying bills, shopping, and making major decisions. She also took a Career Planning class in school and that helped prepare her to. They had to work on a big project which involved finding a mock job, place to live, car, internet, cable, cell phone, grocery shop, furniture shop for the place they found and so on. I don't know about the other students but her eyes where really opened up to what life is going to be like for her. I remember while she was working on the project she was really stressing out because she was running out of money - like it was for real. She watched her pay check just fly away! She has told me many times since getting married that the class really helped prepare her. Everything she did on that project in school she is doing right now in real life. That class was a requirement when she was in school. I think that class is the best subject that educators have come up with. It really wakes some students up!

I really enjoyed my mother/daughter chat this evening!

Who knew?

While reading a friends blog tonight I was introduced to something different. There seems to be a site for people who suffer "blog block" and can't think of anything to write about. Who knew?
mindbump suggested by Blogletting.com

"My neighbor has a bumper sticker that reads: "Remember Who You Wanted To Be". Did you grow up to be who you always wanted to be as a child?"
While there she found the above question and expanded upon it. My interest was peaked and I was glued to the monitor as I read about how her life compared to what she thought she would be when she grew up. That got me thinking. Has my life turned out the way I thought it would? Have "I" turned out who I thought I would be? No. But that no does not carry negativity with it. I have realized long time ago that if I did not follow the paths I took I would not be where I am at today. Although today often brings with it many challenges; I wouldn't change anything. I have two beautiful daughters. Although my relationship with one is not what I would like for it to be. Maybe now is not the time for it - maybe that time is coming. I am about to be a grandmother, a gift from the very same daughter. I am sure there is meaning here somewhere and a reason behind it. I have watched my other daughter grow up and leave at 18 and marry the soldier man that she fell in love with. I am proudly watching all my hard work in teaching her come to life as she starts her new married life out in her first home. She has learned well from the lessons I taught. I have gained a son-in-law so even though I have two girls I also now have a son! I am with a man who is everything to me and he makes me feel that I am everything to him. He doesn't hesitate to show me how much he cares about me. His devotion is 100% in all he does. There is nothing he wouldn't do for me and I love him very much. Yes my plans when I grew up was to get married, have a family, live in a really nice house, and have a job that expressed my artistic side somehow. Well - I got married once - not to the man I am with now. It was the worst mistake I ever made. I have my children. That really nice house I once had, but then lost. We have had to go back on rent and have that grand American dream of owing our own home just dry up and disappear - but I couldn't be happier. I have had several jobs that not necessarily were artistic but they were creative in one way or another! My last job I used my creative side not to draw, sketch, or create a poster. I used my creative side to help other people go to school, work towards an education, better themselves. I used my creative side to encourage someone who was scared to take a first college course and gave them some inspiration. Although it was not the best of jobs and the place itself was under poor management, I was rewarded by knowing that someone is going to get a good education because I helped make it possible.

To finish answering the question at hand. I don't think I exactly turned out the way I pictured I would when I grew up. Some things are different and I am glad they are because if they weren't; those that I love so much would not be part of my life.

Thanks for the inspiration elenajane which gave me a reason to look back on things!

raindrops keep falling on my head

raindrops keep falling on my head.... la la la la dee dee dee....
the rain has been coming down since yesterday - with a few minor breaks here and there. yesterday was just some sort of front that moved through - today/tonight is "ike". flood warnings, high wind advisories, not sounding to good. for now there is just rain coming down - no scary stuff happening. so i have the smooth jazz on, of course have my coffee and just doing "stuff" on the computer.

talked to daughterB and they got hit really bad last night. lost power for awhile. now it is in the 60's in MO. looks like our temps are dropping as well with the rain. 73 degrees at the memento! it has been so humid here today. I haven't been able to do a thing with my hair - i hate that!

this is going to sound weird but..... daughterB thinks she seen my dad (her papa). she caught a glimpse of a figure in her house the other day - it was quick - but she could make out some detail that seemed to be papa. i told her he came to her to let her know how proud he is of her - and to see her first house! i know some people don't believe - and that is ok because they have their own beliefs - but i believe and i believe he was there.

daughterA and baby are doing fine. she goes on sept. 30th (rescheduled) for an ultrasound and find out what it is. i will be going with her since i have that day off from work. she is most definitely looking pregnant these days!
and feels pregnant too. oh how well i remember those days!!

ickyness

I have blogged, I have plurked, and now I am****** well ****** pooped!!
It all started with that nasty 4 letter word "WORK".
It is icky outside/inside with humidity.
A wet rainy day that has increased the ickyness as the day went on.
There seriously needs to be a cool breeze somewhere - oh wait - did I just feel a little one come through the window? NOPE!
Now imagine >>>> just a few days ago >>>> it went down to 46 degrees at night!
So I guess I need to revise my opening line to......
" I have blogged, I have plurked, and now I am ***** well ***** pooped & icky!
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

one down, one to go

I had my ESI (epidural steroid injection) today. My 2nd one is scheduled for 9/23. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The only part I really felt is the shot in order to numb the area. Even that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The doctor inserted a skinny catheter that lead to the nerve that is pinched and then he injected the medication in through that right to the area around the nerve. He was able to see it all on a monitor. He said I should start feeling better (noticing a difference) in about 3 to 4 days. We will see how it goes.

It feels like a typical fall day.The temp is in the 70's with a bit of a coolness to the day with sunshine. A perfect day actually to visit a cider mill! :) HubJ and I want to go this year. It has been a few years. This time will be without the kids. We need some "get away" time for just the two of us.

kids

Why do kids not listen to parents? Of course when they are younger they want to do their own thing their own way - but then when they grow up that is suppose to change. They are suppose to look to their parents for guidance. I am so upset that my 20 yr old daughter who is pregnant does not want MY guidance. I am suppose to be there for her. I am trying to be there for her. She just pushes me away. I want to be part of her life so bad. I want to be able to share in this moment with her. She insists on listening to OTHER people before she listens to me IF she listens to me at all. It hurts that I can't be a part of my daughters life. She acts like I don't know what she is going through. I have 2 daughters and have gone through VERY hard times so I think that makes me qualified to say I know what she is going through. I have always wanted better for my children - every parent does. I often have asked myself why I am going through the experiences that I am going through. I have tried to figure out the reasoning behind it. I have finally realized the other day that if I didn't go through the hard times and experiences that I did I wouldn't be able to guide my daughters. I can give them advice. I can give them hope and encouragement. I can help them get through each day that they are experiencing the same issues that I once did. But it breaks my heart that I have one daughter who won't let me do that. Instead she gets mad at ME because of the way the world is. Of course I still love her. I will always love her. I just hope one day she realizes that I am here.

happy weekend everyone!

The weekend is here! YAY!! Even though it was only a 4 day work week because of the Labor Day weekend it still felt like a long week. I am getting settled into my job. Still learning lots of stuff. Yesterday I felt a bit overwhelmed - but I handled it good. The director of the special ed department told me yesterday that I am do a good job and she is happy to have me working in the office. That was really nice of her - and it felt good to get a compliment. Compliments are not something that I am use to from the other office I worked at. They could care less if you existed really. To me - that is the worst thing management can do. You get me productivity out of your employees if you let them know they mean something to the company.

I also started up my PT again this past week. I can't stand PT. I think they are mixing in some chiropractic therapy this time. I have a really nice therapist  - PJ - and he was doing some new stuff to my back. I am scheduled this coming Tuesday for my first epidural steroid injection (ESI). I am so nervous. The thought of having a needle stuck into my spine freaks me out. It is x-ray guided so they inject right where the problem is. The script is for two and my second ESI is scheduled for Sept 23rd. They have to be two weeks apart.

We have been in need of rain so bad here. We got a little bit over the last couple days but not nearly enough to help the burnt grass that everyone has in their yards. We need a good day of steady rain from morning till night to really soak into the ground. When you walk on the grass it is "crispy" with a "crunchy" sound!!

Speaking of crispy and crunchy - I found the coolest thing at the pet store the other day for our pet rabbit ANGEL. I bought her a "salad bowl" which is a bow made out of hay (looks like a birds nest) and it is filled with dehydrated apples and cranberries. She loved it! The best part of the deal is she can eat the bowl - which she is happily working on a little each day. :) Of course everyone else had to get treats that day - the dogs got rawhide chew sticks and bagel chew treats. The cat got a springy mouse toy. The trip was actually to get bird seed for the birds which they did get. There was a cute little dog there that day in the shopping cart doing her grocery shopping with her owner! :) If I had the money I could really spend it in that store - I love shopping for the pets. When I come home they are so excited as I pull each item out of the bag. It is like Christmas for them!!

Until next time.......

a slow drip

The Sun took a break today and let the clouds take over for a while. It rained last night and this morning - only a little though. Not nearly enough to meet the needs of the poor burnt up lawns around here. It has felt like a drought. I can't remember the last time it rained before today.

HubJ and I watched a movie last night "Wicker Man" with Nicholas Cage. A very weird movie and out of his usual role. He died in this movie - he usually never dies. He always saves people and lives at the end. I love Nicholas Cage. I think my fave movie with him is "Gone in 60 Seconds".

I am slowly getting settled in at my new job. I have to basically start from scratch and develop my own routine on doing things. The people who left the office didn't leave much to go on. The office manager is very helpful. She is always ready to answer questions - which is good because I have many! lol
In some areas I need to get some things caught up to where they should be so things can flow easier - once I do that then things will just go from there. Catching things up always requires a lot of work - sometimes unnecessary work because certain things should have already been done. These people that left were not in the best of moods the last weeks of their time there. They were resentful over the changes, the reconstruction of the office and those positions and they just were not going to do anything more then they had to. From what I understand - they didn't do anything except show up! I suppose I would feel the same way to a point if my job was being turned all upside down and every which way and causing me to move out. However, I don't think it was very professional of them to just let things go the way they did. The group of 3 that there was didn't really follow any type of office rules about doing things - I guess they more less just did their jobs the way "they" wanted to. Administration finally had enough and decided they needed to get them weeded out. Administration needed to be in charge again - something that was lost over the years. It is better to have one set way of doing things so then when new people do come in - there are formatted ways of doing things. That is what I am trying to bring back to my job., a standard general procedure to follow that can be carried down from one employee to the next. You just can't do things at will and make up your own rules as you go. That just does not work.

So with all that going on I am a bit tired when I come home. Once I get over this hurdle of catching things up then I know things will be easier and I will be more relaxed and probably not as drained as I am. I haven't even done much reading since I started the new office - I should be farther along in my book then I am. I try to do some reading on my lunch breaks.

So I believe tomorrow will be much the same as today - cloudy. I don't mind because we really do need the rain. It really needs to rain though - a nice steady rain that lasts all day. This little drip here and there is not doing a thing!!

hugs

somewhere in time

So it seems I have gotten lost once again in the whirlwind of life. I WAS planning on doing serious blogging last weekend but I started some new medication for my nerve pain and spent a day and a half in bed because of one little pill! Obviously I WILL NOT be taking that medication again. Saturday was just a blur.

Things going on right now are...

  • A is just about 4 months now. Ultrasound scheduled for Sept 22nd.
  • B & C are settling down nicely in MO.
  • B dyed her hair black and got a tattoo!
  • HubJ is working now - one income just wasn't getting it.
  • My new job is going well - very different from the other place.
  • Today was the staff picnic - very nice! :)
  • Breezy and 70's by day/50's by night - very refreshing.
  • Mom hasn't been feeling too well - very thin - and I am very worried.
  • Drama with A.
  • I miss B.
  • Sis would be proud - B & C were given a used grill and it is PINK! They grilled steaks the other night. It was shooting out flames - LOL - now I call it the "flaming pink grill"!
  • (all was under control!)

just another day

I made an attempt to work on this blog today. However, it is not working out very well. I actually attempted last night - but as I was trying to find some cool looking stuff to put on my blog the dogs started to act up. I should say "dog" as in "one" and she really didn't mean to act up but it was annoying as she got sick from one end of the house to the other! I have no idea what she got herself into (I am sure something outside) but little miss Sadie had a very upset tummy last night. Just when I thought she was done and settled back into working on the blog again - here we go again!!
Her tummy seems to be settled today, but her bark isn't. Once again I have tried to work on this blog and it seems an ant could walk down the sidewalk and both Sadie and Rosie will have a fit!

So I am looking for some cool stuff to put on my blog. I don't know - counters or really fun looking graphics. I don't know where to go for all this stuff. Any ideas? Oh - and one of my dearest g/f's has started using a signature at the bottom of her posts. How did you do that Sis? I don't want to be a copycat but I really like it. :)

Oh - I need help in another area. Everyone always has links in their posts. To show a book, a toy, or a really cute pair of shoes and I don't know how to do that. I know the link is usually like a keyword such as a title or an object name or even "this" or "that" or even "there". HELP cuz I wanna be able to do that to. :) Thanx bunches.

another day

I guess I am making progress as it is day two and I am back on my blog!! :)

Hopefully I will be able to get some work done on it today. We are a little late on the payment for the phone/internet and I am hoping they don't suspend our service until we pay it. Stuff always happens doesn't it!!

I don't have much planned for today. Little Mama (A) is home for a bit today which is nice. I am looking forward to visiting with her before she goes back to her hubby's house. :)

HubJ tried to cut grass today - got rained out! It is a muggy, sticky, wet day out there today. Thank goodness for A/C!!

Little Mama wants a grilled cheese - so on that note I am going to shuffle on outta here.

Till next time -

hello sunshine

spring is back again! yay! :) the weather has gotten mild again and today the sun is out. just beautiful. even though it was a long drab day in the office - the evening is nice and comforting.

today our job hot line had a position on it for a secretary position up in the learning lab. i filled out the bid form and sent it onto human resources. everyone keep praying this one will work out for me. please! :) it would be so nice to get out of the financial aid office. it is a level up in the secretary classification so it would be a promotion with more money. it is also an 11 month position so there would be a month in the summer that i wouldn't work. that would be ok though. i could plan all year financially for it and make sure we have that month covered (2 pay days actually). i don't know what the job itself consists of, however, if i get called for an interview i am sure i will find out. i figure - if i can handle working in the financial aid office i could probably handle just about anything. the position will stay on the hot line until this friday. then they will probably start looking at the bid forms that came in and call people for interviews that fit the qualifications.

so there was a a little bit of sunshine that crept into the office for me today!

a come back

not enough hours in the day it seems. by the time i get home from work about the only thing i have enough energy for is to eat dinner. this past week has been very tiring. i have been going to bed earlier then usual too.

i have started emailing a sailor on the USS Carney. he is a very nice young man who belongs to a band they have there on the ship. he has been deployed out for 5 months already so he needs someone to talk to other then the same people he sees day after day. although there is a huge age gap we seem to get along good and are able to make conversation.

the time is counting down until B & C get married. not that far away. i can't get over my "little girl" has grown into such a beautiful young woman and is planning a wedding. it all happened so fast. it was just yesterday that i was bringing her home from the hospital. i am so happy that she is happy. the glow on her face is enchanting. C has been so good for her. it will be hard to leave her after the wedding - but i know she will be happy. we are like the "Gilmore Girls" so not having her at home with me is going to be hard. she is my best friend. we share so many special moments together. i will need to adjust, which i am sure i will. thank goodness for phone and email! i am sure we will be talking everyday. :)

so yesterday was wonderful with 70 degrees. today is cold AGAIN! i hate the weather in this state. BLAH!!!

the rush is on and a way we go

So the "calm" at work has ended and now that the 08/09 financial aid year has begun to get started the mad rush is on. The papers are flying, the people are crashing in, the workers are cranky, my desk is no longer organized, meetings are being scheduled, the phone is ringing, the fax is singing, the drop box is filling up, the mail is multiplying, the stampers are stamping, the keyboards are clicking, the chairs are rolling, the doors are slamming, the students are panicking, the lines are longer, the odors are stronger, the numbers are adding up, need more coffee in my cup, the clock is ticking, pens are clicking, pencils tapping, mouths are flapping, books are flapping, and.......................................
I AM RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT!

Welcome Financial Aid Year 2008/2009 - and I hope I keep my sanity through it all.

here comes peter cotton tail...... on skis' ?

Easter is suppose to be a time for flowers, Easter parades, Easter bonnets, dresses, pretty shoes, pastels, and everything "spring"! Why then is it snowing like mad in the eastern part of the United States?????? It is Good Friday - the ground is covered all in white with snowflakes just pouring from the sky. This latest winter storm is not scheduled to end until sometime tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. This is so wierd.

from land to sea

I am trying to help Nancy out from the "Aunt Nancy Project" and adopt another soldier - or two! she recently added the USS - Carney Navy Ship which is out to sea for 7 mths and needs people to interact with the Navy personnel on there. She said they check email most daily so this shouldn't be to hard. It means so much to the soldiers for someone to "just care" about them. To recognize that they are there and support them. Everyone has their own opinions on the war - but when you come right down to it - it don't matter what your feelings are about the situation - it doesn't change the fact that our men and women are out there. They are away from people who love them. Some of them if they are lucky enough to return home unharmed - end up returning home with a broken heart. Believe it or not - even a simple "hi - i am thinking about you today" message means the world to them. So I am embarking on another adventure and this time going from land to sea!:)

no so bad

my appt with the pain doc went well. i was worried about what she would be like. i am always very critical when it comes to meeting doctors for the first time. i think because i have had so many of them frustrate me. she basically just examined me - asked a lot of questions - took down a lot of notes, decided to keep me on my same pain meds for now and will see me in month. so i will be getting my pain meds directly from her and not my family doc. the less times i have to call my family doc's office the better - the girl at the front desk is VERY rude.

i really need to figure out how i can get this surgery done/or if it will even help in the long run. my knees are the root of all my problems. some things just aren't that simple to fit into a persons life.

the bumpy road

why is it every time i think i am going to have a "smooth" day it always turns out bumpy?

mom wasn't going to come over today but i insisted because i thought we could have a nice dinner together. besides, i didn't know what she was going to make for dinner for herself and this way i was sure she would eat good. i was just in a mood to have her over. once again though the visit was full of complaining about stuff, long story's and made my day seem VERY long. i know i shouldn't let her little ways bother me. i know i should be greatful she is still here with me. but it is the same thing over and over like a broken record. i guess today i was hoping it would be different.

miss A brings drama to everyday of my life and today was no exception. so that was another thing that had to be dealt with. the pets seemed to be in a tissy today as well and even rosie was underfoot. i got absolutely no reading done today and very little done yesterday. i was hoping to get further in my book this weekend and that just did not happen. i have another day to squeeze some extra reading time in and that will be tomorrow since i won't be going to work because of my pain management appointment. we will see how all that goes.

oh - and to top it off - last night after getting all comfy cozy in bed and settled in to watch some tv i was reminded by the news that we needed to do the time change thing this weekend. i knew hubj had probably forgotten - he was already asleep - so i dragged myself out of bed and wrote a note (in big green letters!) so he would change ALL the clocks in the house when he got up in the morning. btw - he has a clock collection so we have like a million clocks in the house (well .. not a million .. but it sounds like it!). i will have to work on setting my own clock in my body myself and if my calculations are right - it should be adjusted just about the time we need to change the time back again!

everything has gone small

my computer did a windows update which is automatic and this time around everything kind of shrunk! even my blog seems condensed. i tried to fix it by going into the computers control panel but it only fixed "some" of the things and left others still shrunk. maybe the computer took one of "alices pills that made her small!" somebody please give it one of her pills that made her big! nothing like a highly medicated computer - HELP!

TGI...T!

getting an early start to the weekend. the college is on spring break this week (some spring break with all this snow!) and we get friday off. i will actually have a 4 day weekend because i have a doctors appt on monday and won't be going into work.

so yes the students have all flown off to warm & tropical places while the rest of us are stuck here in the middle of coldness and snow, with another snow storm on its way for tomorrow through saturday and into sunday. another storm that has a large amount of snow predicted. BLAHHHHH!
why are we having spring break while it is still winter anyway is what i would like to know.

plans for the long weekend.....
more reading, relaxing, some tv, emails, blogging. of course the most important - SLEEP IN!

at last - that snow day!

that snow day "finally" happened today with around 8 inches of snow on the ground. we slept in, got up and had coffee, i eventually got dressed, and spent the day doing the following:

  • played spider solitaire (managed to win the intermediate level at last!)
  • looked at wedding stuff online with ~B~ (wedding gowns, veils, shoes, mothers gowns + looked at different color themes).
  • the ~lovebirds~ changed the plans up a bit - the date has been moved to April 27th 2010 (more time to plan and get settled).
  • did some reading
  • made dinner (chili burgers, fries, pickles).
  • watched ~american idol~
  • thinking there is only one more day of work this week (because we are off friday).
so the snow day has come and gone and now it is back to the usual routine tomorrow ~~~~~~

saturday stuff

went to the mall with "A" to do lunch and walk around grabbing applications for her to find a job. she turned in 2 today (because they had signs posted "now hiring") and she has 10 others to fill out at home and take back. lunch was good - we went to Elias Brothers and before we left stopped at "Cuppies" and I got a mocha latte and she got a frozen vanilla latte. YUMMY! :P

"B" is flying back into town tonight. she has a late flight - leaving at 8:10 and arriving at 10:08pm.
it will be hard for her to leave "C" but she will do fine. hubby and i will be leaving early to figure out parking, finding the right terminal, and all that stuff. by the time "sis" comes into town we should have this airport business pretty well figured out! :)

it is still a sea of white out there. warmer today though then it has been. should be even warmer tomorrow - i think in the 40's. that will be nice - hopefully melt the snow.

trying to bring spring into my life - sporting "violet sparkle" nails! :)

getting ready to start a book "seaview inn" by sherryl woods. the summary makes it sound like a good story. made a trip to borders books yesterday and found the book - hopefully it is a good find. got it at a bargain price. of course i didn't leave without a hazelnut latte!

hugs ~

no snow day - boo hoo!

no snow day for me! although there was quite a bit of snow - not enough to cause a need to close the schools down. looking out the window as i make this post at a sea of white cold stuff, i only have one thing on my mind SPRING WHERE ARE YOU????? i want green, i want flowers, i want warmers temps so i can shed these layers of cloths and the heavy coat that keeps me from easily stretching the seat belt over to the other side to fasten it. i want flip flops and open toe shoes. i want to open the windows and let the fresh air in. i want a nice gentle spring rain as i sit and read a book. so as i sit with my hot cup of coffee in hand, keyboard clicking away, and the window in front of me with a christmas card picture scene and knowing that somehow this sounds like a really cozy set up - i remember that my mother told me that she saw a robin yesterday and that means spring is just around the corner and i couldn't be happier!! :)
